The density , ultrasonic velocity and viscosity at temperature 303K and 4MHz frequency have been measured in the binary systems of Cinnamaldehyde with non-polar liquid 1, 4- dioxane. From the experimental a f data, various acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility ( â ), intermolecular free length (L ) and free f volume (V ) were calculated. It has been observed that, weak dispersive type intermolecular interactions are confirmed in the system investigated. The results are interpreted in terms of molecular interaction between the components of the mixtures

Saliva is natural body fluid continuously bathing oral mucosa and its surrounding structure. However , not many studies focusing on changes in salivary parameters and their association with present of oral mucosal lesions. This study was conducted to assess the association between salivary parameters characteristic and present of oral mucosa lesion among Siamese population in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. A cross-sectional study was carried out at fourteen randomly selected Siamese villages located in six districts of Kelantan. A total of 152 respondents' who fulfill inclusion and exclusion criteria was selected using systematic random sampling. Saliva collection procedure and analysis was done using Saliva-Check BUFFER® by GIC Co. Japan. Intraoral examination was done by single examiner , using WHO (1997) guidelines. Data were entered and analyzed using SPSS version 13.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, USA). Independent sampled t-test was used to analyses mean dif ferences in salivary parameters. Result shows that saliva of respondents with oral mucosa lesion (OML) was found significantly low in resting pH (6.26 + 0.440) compared to respondents without oral mucosa lesion (NOML) (6.88 + 0.379) (p<0.05)), and also saliva buf fering capacity among OML respondents was significantly lower (1 1.48 + 0.709) compared to NOML respondents (1 1.76 + 0.481) (p< 0.05). From this study it is concluded that those with oral mucosa lesions have low saliva buf fering capacity but saliva more acidic compare to respondents without oral mucosa lesions.

Submandibular gland is rich source of epidermal growth factor (EGF). T o investigate the role of salivary EGF on the development of male reproductive system we have performed the sialoadenectomy (removal of submandibular glands) of the 20 days old male mice and this sialoadenectomised mice was sacrificed on 45, 60 and 90th day . The testis, seminal vesicle, prostate gland, caput and cauda epididymis were dissected out for protein estimation and histological studies. It was found that the there was significant loss in the weight of these or gans, protein content in the sialoadenectomised mice as compared to control. The histological structures of these or gans were also changed in the sialoadenectomised mice.
